Can you introduce yourself?

My name is  Hadi Shakuur. I am a native Washingtonian, a husband, and father of 3 young kids under 7! I am also the CEO and Founder of Muzbnb, the Muslim-friendly Airbnb.

How long have you had your beard?

Ive actually never been clean shaven, so ever since I started growing facial hair in high school I've always had a little something something going on. But I became Muslim in 2010 and since then I have grown my beard out really long and had it short. Right now it's pretty short.

What was your motivation to grow a beard?

I think they are cool, I can't picture myself clean shaven, that's not my style. My religious beliefs of Islam definitely coincide with my cultural and style preferences./

Do you recall encountering obstacles to grow your beard?

Not really, my sides haven't fully grown in yet but it's coming, Inshallah.

How did your friends, relatives and coworkers react to your new look?

Well I get asked if I model a lot so I think they like it lol.

Have you ever faced any negativity, discrimination or odd comments in regards to your beard?

Nope.

Do you have a funny or positive anecdote in relation to your beard?

One time my wife died a strip of my beard a orange color and it kind of made that part get really dry and break off.

How do you care for your beard? Do you have a daily or weekly routine?

My wife puts oil on it, and sometimes I brush it but that's about it.

How important is fashion in your life? Do you style and shop for yourself? Where do you usually buy your clothes and why? What was the last fashion item you purchased?

Fashion has always been pretty important in my life since birth. My mom kept me fly! I do style and shop for myself. Some of my favorite brands are Ralph Lauren, Dior, Bape, and Offwhite.  I also like shopping at thrift stores. The last fashion item i purchased was some Yeezy Belugas.

What is your advice to those who would like to grow their beards? Do you have any beard tips or tricks?

Like Nike said... Just Do It.

Have you ever encountered anyone who thinks beards are dirty and thus needs to be shaved "clean"? What would be your answer to them?

No but my answer woiuld be, well men should be a little dirty! Sike, i would just say that's ridiculous.
